This is a might good question. Hopefully I can answer this adequately for you. I’m a 40 something IT person that’s used the Law of Attraction for many years, sometimes intentionally, usually not. It wasn’t until the movie The Secret came out that I could put a name to my thoughts on why certain things came into my life and other things didn’t.

I can remember clearly when I first got the notion that something like this existed in the universe. Sure, I had my parents reading me bible stories about miracles and things from the bible, which I find as a good basis for examples of the Law of Attraction at work. But what really got me started down this path was a story I had read in one of my monthly SF magazines. I want to say it was the one from Asimov, but since I was pretty young, maybe in my teens, the memory is kinda hazy.

Some background on me and my life might add a little more to this story and make things more clear as I explain. All my life, I’ve been a science/tech buff. I read A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawkings when it first came out, when I was around 15 or 16. Understood everything in the book and loved it. Was reading about quarks, sub atomic particles, etc. It was a very fertile ground for the ideas of this story to grow in.

To get back to this story, I remember reading this story about a couple (guy/girl, don’t remember if they were married or just dating) was driving through the backcountry up north (I think it was Canada). They were discussing quantum physics and started discussing how science was starting to learn that by observation, that they could affect the outcomes of tests or something similar. The couple took the theory further by saying if the outcome of tests could be affected by observation, then maybe the law of probability could be manipulated by concentrated thought (I.E. for those of you into comic books, it’s sort of like LongShot’s luck ability). They proceed to test the theory by believing a Fosters beer can into existance on the road in front of them. They used all sorts of scientific jargon that, to me at least, made it seem possible that the world could work just like that.

So I started experimenting with the idea on and off over the years, having successes and failures, but over time just beliving it was wishful thinking that made me think I had had all those successes in my past and that it was just luck that was doing it. I’d come across books that hinted at this working, but most of them went so far out into left field that it was hard to believe them, thereby causing me to doubt the ability of this process to work.
It wasn’t until my early thirties that I came across some books that really started pointing to this being a real phenomenon that could be used. The first real book I remember seeing on this was The Magic of Thinking Big, Think and Grow Rich, and The 11th Element. It started me thinking that maybe I had been on to something when I was younger. So I started experimenting with it again, and over time, I’ve become convinced it works, but couldn’t figure out why it was still working haphazardly. I now know why that was, and I’ll go into depth about this and other things on this site. So that’s who I am at this point, but now I’m developing the tools to become much more.

As a side note, one of my ulterior motives for building this site is so I can focus more on the Law of Attraction, how it works and how to get more benefit from it in my life. I figure with the amount of reading, research, and studying that I’ll need to do to make this a useful website, along with all the interaction I intend to have with visitors can only reinforce the powers of the Law of Attraction. In other words, I’m trying to take advantage of the ‘teach the teacher’ effect where by learning enough to teach something, I get a deeper understanding of how it works myself. Then I can actually help more people who have questions and/or problems in their own pursuit of the Law of Attraction.
